2017 Jeep Compass Redesign
Jeep has redesigned the 2017 Compass, giving you a new take on this crossover SUV. But does it have what you’re looking for–and will it live up to the Jeep reputation?
2017 Jeep Compass Redesign
One thing that Jeep is known for is its off-road capabilities. The 2017 Compass is no different. The Select Terrain Traction Control System adjusts the vehicle’s settings depending on the terrain you are driving in. Selections include auto, snow, sand, and mud with just the turn of a dial. The Terrain Select adjusts for things like over-steering in snow or lost traction in mud. It’s a sweet feature for those off-roaders. The Active Drive 4×4 System makes your Compass even more efficient once it hits the dirt (or sand, or snow, or mud, etc.) by automatically and seamlessly switching back and forth between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive whenever it is needed. These features plus independent suspension and hill assist make the Compass one of the most capable compact SUVs out there.
The Jeep Compass offers some seriously helpful options for everyday driving. Lane Sensing and Lane Keep Assist help guide you back into your lane when you’re on the highway. It’s not an automated car, but it helps you out when you get momentarily distracted. You’ll also be able to park between the lines with the Rear Parking Assist System; you work the pedals and the Compass does the rest. And when you want to change lanes, blind spot monitoring will help you know when it is safe to do so. When you add in the Collision Warning System and Active Breaking to help you avoid an accident, the Compass is obviously well suited, on the road or off.
The 2017 Jeep Compass is just as capable on the inside, which you’ll know right when you get in. The Compass is available with a dual panel sunroof that covers both rows of seating. The nicer the weather, the more you need this amazingly fun feature. The heated seats and steering wheel will go great with the snow mode of your Terrain Select System too. Back seat climate controls make sure your passengers stay comfortable. The easily usable storage space adjusts to make loading and unloading easier by making the area level with the trunk opening, or dropping it down to give you more cargo room. You can also use that adaptable option to create a secret compartment in the back. We are impressed by the ways that the Jeep Compass makes life easier for drivers.
Making your way back to the front seat, you will see the 7″ touchscreen display equipped with either Apple Car Play or Android Auto. These features allow you to easily connect your smartphone to your Jeep and make use of hands free calling, navigation, and more. You can connect to your phone’s apps so you can find you next lunch spot, or play your phone’s music or the next podcast. Since a button on the steering wheel can activate the voice control, you never have to take your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel.
Compass New Trailhawk
If the 2017 Jeep Compass is one of the most capable compact SUVs off the road, and it is, the Trail Hawk Edition is the most capable. In addition to the four modes of the Select Terrain Traction Control System, the Trail Hawk also has a rock setting. Extra skid plates and extra ground clearance let you drive over obstacles with even more confidence. The Trail Hawk also adds to the Active Drive 4×4 System by extending it to the Active Drive Low giving it extra crawl ratio to help you conquer your next off road challenge.
As you can see, the new 2017 Jeep Compass is great on the road or off. If you’re looking for something that looks cool and will get you from point A to point B, the Compass has you covered. But, if you’re looking to make driving an every day adventure, the Jeep Compass is really the only choice.
